The Woodpile Foundation is a 501(c) (3) not for profit, protection, conservation and preservation organization formed by Robert and Christine Faulks' in 2019. 

 

Previously, the ToTo Foundation a 501 (c) (3) not for profit was formed by Christine Faulks in 2015 to encourage wellness through the human/animal connection.   ToTo purchased 30 acres of land and developed an off-leash dog park in Waupaca County.  This park has a constructed wetland that was previously a cornfield and now includes over 12,500 native plants representing 24 different species. In addition, 100 mature trees were planted representing over 20 different species. 

 

The first project envisioned by the Woodpile Foundation was a 247 acre wetland purchased in 2019 followed by a 53 acre upland purchased in 2023. These forested uplands, feature dramatic changes in topography and provide a sanctuary for dozens of bird species.

The purpose of these acquisition was to protect this important ecosystem into perpetuity.

 

Wetlands and Marsh complex wetlands are the base of the food chain.  The organic material in wetlands supports the microscopic organisms that are consumed by a variety of invertebrate.  The invertebrate, in turn, become food for fish, birds, and mammals; supporting an entire food chain.

 

We believe that there are tremendous opportunities for community engagement and education to promote and increase the awareness of the ecological value of this resource. 

 

A management plan is currently under development to facilitate ADA compliant public access to several areas of this important resource. Boardwalks and parking areas are the top priorities currently.
